I love to sew! Quilts, girls clothes, pot holders, pin cushions, cloth dolls and aprons. My two favourites though are quilts and clothes for my girls. For the past few months I have been working on a quilt for my niece Eva. It is a split nine patch quilt made using Eva fabric by Basic Grey. There is also a panel in the upper half of the quilt with hand appliqu├ęd  flowers and birds. This is what took the longest.

I have plans to make my other niece Astrid a quilt using the same pattern but with Sultry by Basic Grey and maybe bird houses in place of the flowers.
Applique and embroidery
Look for a tutorial to make this quilt mid September

Planning ahead

If you want to make this quilt you will need:
4 packages of the same charm squares
2 yards of solid for sashing and panel
Embroidery thread and needles
Embroidery hoop
Backing fabric

Redeemed Lives, Beautiful Churches, Transformed Communities

During our two week orientation with South America Mission we learned a lot about the vision and mission of SAM. We are thankful for the opportunity we had to fellowship with the people who work in the home office and the other missionaries being sent out to serve across South America.

We spent our days learning about being an abiding, loving, suffering, growing and redemptive community. How can we expect to share the gospel with others if we ourselves are not living as the redeemed children of God? We need to live transparent and humble lives and to be willing to tell others of the change God has brought into our lives by his grace.

There is so much more that we learned and took away from our time and we plan to share this with you  in our next newsletter we hope to send out next week. Until then we hope you are encouraged as we are by what God accomplished in us during the past few weeks.
